PALEOENVIRONMENT ENDAPAN PALEOGEN, DAERAH SUNGAI KETALO- MALAKO, JAMBI

Abstract


Lintasan Oligosen-Miosen yang tersingkap di Lintasan Stratigrafi Sungai Ketalo dan Malako di Jambi Barat, Subcekungan Jambi, Indonesia, mengarsipkan sisa-sisa vegetasi khatulistiwa pada saat pemanasan global yang ekstrem dan permulaan tumbukan mikrokontinen Jawa Timur-Eurasia, diteliti dengan menggunakan pemetaan permukaan dan palinologi. Satuan batuan diendapkan selama satu fase sedimentasi, yaitu fase endapan kontinental, yang terdiri dari konglomerat, batupasir kerikilan dan batupasir yang mengisi cekungan
diikuti oleh endapan transgresif yang terkait dengan pendalaman lingkungan cekungan. Tiga zona palinologi Meyeripollis naharkotensis (Oligosen), Florschuetzia trilobata (Miosen Awal) dan Florschuetzia levipoli (Miosen Tengah) diidentifikasi secara stratigrafi berdasarkan kelimpahan taksa polen ini di atas yang lain. Perlapisan batuan merupakan endapan dari Oligosen Awal hingga Miosen Tengah dari bawah ke arah atas. Lingkungan pengendapan berubah dari waktu ke waktu, melewati dari cekungan tektonik yang sempit dan bersisi curam, selama Oligosen Awal hingga Akhir, diikuti oleh suatu cekungan lakustrin hingga
palustrin dengan pengaruh lautan, sebagai akibat dari pergerakan distensif E-W antara Sesar Jambi dan Sesar Sunda di Oligosen Akhir hingga Miosen Tengah.
