Abstract

The problem of plastic and organic waste is an environmental challenge in Sompilan Village, Sleman, DIY. The abundant plastic and organic gallon waste residents produce causes an unpleasant odor and can pollute the environment. Therefore, this Community Service Program aimed to empower village women by using gallons as fermenters to make organic fertilizer. The methods used include training and assistance in the fermentation process of organic fertilizer with raw household and agricultural waste materials. Used gallons are used as effective and economical fermenters. The results showed that used gallons could function optimally as fermenters. The organic fertilizer produced has a nutritional content that meets standards, which is useful for increasing soil fertility and agricultural productivity. In addition, this activity has a positive impact on the economy of village women's families, increasing environmental awareness and reducing the amount of plastic waste. Using used gallons as organic fertilizer fermenters is an innovative and sustainable solution for waste management and empowering village women.
