PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH CAIR PADA UMKM BATIK TULIS PUTRI KAWUNG, BAYAT, KLATEN

Abstract

Batik Putri Kawung is one of the Joint Business Groups (KUBe) in Jarum Village, Bayat District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. KUBe Batik Putri Kawung produces hand-drawn batik as their superior product. Batik making is done traditionally, so the production time for one batik cloth can be one to two months. The process produces waste in the form of liquid and solid wax. Solid waste can be reused as raw material for incense, while liquid batik waste must be processed before being discharged into the environment. So far, KUBe Batik Putri Kawung's liquid waste has only been stored in wells, which are at risk of seepage into groundwater and polluting water sources around the village. To dispose of liquid waste safely in the environment, simple, easy, and cheap processing is needed. One method used to process this liquid waste is a multi-stage filtration method with adsorbent as one of its layers. Adsorbents can reduce the colour intensity of liquid waste, which can minimize the negative impact of waste on the environment.
