Increasing the production of Upanat sandals in the Borobudur area aims to optimize the development of local industry by utilizing existing cultural and tourism potential. Upanat sandals, as a craft product that reflects local cultural values, have a great opportunity to be developed into a typical product for the Borobudur tourism area. This Community Service was carried out to determine efforts to increase the production of Upanat sandals in the Borobudur tourism area. However, this effort was not successful because the number of Upanat Sandal craftsmen is still limited and the number of residents around the Borobudur Tourism Area who are willing and skilled enough to make upanat sandals is very limited. This Community Service uses primary data from interviews with Upanat sandal craftsmen and residents of the Borobudur tourism area. The small number of craftsmen and local residents involved ultimately means sandal production is far below the target. The current production capacity of the workforce is only 200 pairs of sandals per week. In fact, for the needs of Borobudur Temple tourists, the target is to produce more than 1,000 sandals per day (BKB, 2022). So, outreach is needed which aims to foster interest in the local community as well as conducting training to improve the skills of the local community in increasing the amount of production. By implementing the right solution, it is hoped that the production of Upanat sandals in the Borobudur Temple area can increase significantly, provide economic benefits for local communities, and support cultural preservation.
