Abstrak

Keparakan Kidul, located in the heart of Yogyakarta City, faces challenges in developing its creative economic potential, particularly in leather handicrafts. The primary issues involve low production capacity, limited technical skills among artisans, and restricted access to training, marketing, and business partnerships. This community engagement program implemented solutions including product design training based on market trends and local identity, waste management assistance for leather production, and digital marketing workshops to broaden market access. The outcomes show significant improvement in innovative product design skills, greater awareness of environmental sustainability through the reuse of production waste into value-added products, and the development of digital-based marketing networks. A participatory and collaborative approach between the service team and the community was key to enhancing the sustainable competitiveness of local leather MSMEs.
