Media dan Pengukuhan Nilai pada Pelajar Sekolah Menengah Atas di Kota Pekanbaru

Abstract


Kajian ini bertujuan; (1) mengetahui bentuk kedekatan remaja dengan media, (2) mengetahui bentuk pengukuhan nilai remaja, (3) mengetahui pengaruh media dengan pengukuhan nilai remaja. Berlandaskan social cognitive theory dan model sosialisasi nilai menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk menjelaskan fenomena sosial remaja. Remaja yang menjadi tumpuan penelitian adalah remaja yang berdomisili di Pekanbaru dalam penelitian ini remaja diwakili oleh pelajar-pelajar Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) dan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) swasta dan negeri. Riset ini menggunakan metode pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam pada delapan siswa SMA dan SMK. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa remaja di Pekanbaru dekat dan selalu menggunakan media massa terutama televisi dan internet. Remaja banyak mendapatkan nilai individu dan nilai sosial dari media massa, termasuk nilai tolong menolong, kemauan keras, dan nilai solidaritas sosial. Nilai kejujuran dan tanggung jawab diperoleh dari keluarga, sekolah, dan agama. Remaja mengakui bahwa nilai yang diperoleh dari media kemudian dikukuhkan oleh institusi sosial seperti keluarga, kawan, sekolah, dan agama. Jadi media dan institusi sosial saling mendukung dalam mengukuhkan nilai remaja. Besarnya peranan media massa dalam memberikan nilai pada remaja, maka sepantasnya pemilik media pemerintah dan institusi terkait memperhatikan kandungan media massa yang dikonsumsi oleh remaja untuk membangun karakter sosial bangsa yang lebih baik pada masa yang akan datang.
