Peer Review Process
OPSI applies a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure that all published articles meet high standards of scientific quality and ethical integrity. The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, meaning that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the entire process. All evaluations are conducted by experts who assess each manuscript based on its scientific merit, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance to the aims and scope of OPSI.
1. Initial Evaluation by the Editorial Board
- Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial screening conducted by the editorial board.
- This stage verifies whether the manuscript fits the journal’s focus, follows the submission guidelines, and meets ethical requirements.
- Manuscripts with a similarity level above 15 percent will be rejected at this stage.
- The editorial office checks formatting, citation style, structure, and completeness of submission files.
- Authors are required to submit two versions of the manuscript: a full paper containing author names and affiliations, and a blinded version with all author-identifying information (such as name, affiliation, corresponding email, acknowledgement, and author contribution) removed for use in the double blind review process.
- If the submission does not meet the required format, it will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission.
- Manuscripts that pass the initial screening move forward to the peer review stage.
2. Assignment of Independent Reviewers
- The editorial team appoints two independent reviewers who are experts in the manuscript’s subject area.
- Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other in accordance with the double blind system.
- Identifying information such as author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and author contribution notes must be placed only in the title page file and removed from the main manuscript.
- Invitations are sent to reviewers based on their expertise, availability, and absence of conflicts of interest.
- Reviewers are expected to be affiliated with different institutions from those of the corresponding authors.
- Jurnal OPSI aims to assign reviewers within a maximum period of five weeks.
3. Review Process
- Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on 10 variables, these are:
- Relevance
- Novelty
- Contribution
- Writing presentation
- Background
- Method
- Analysis
- Conclusion
- Sustainability
- Reference
- Each reviewer typically has five weeks to complete the evaluation.
- Reviewers submit constructive, detailed, and professional comments to help authors improve their work.
- Based on their assessment, reviewers may recommend:
- Acceptance
- Rejection
- Minor revision
- Major revision
4. Editorial Decision
- The Editor in Chief makes the final decision by considering reviewer reports and the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s standards.
- If reviewer recommendations differ significantly, the handling editor may consult an additional expert before finalizing the decision.
- Authors receive the official decision letter and anonymized reviewer comments through the journal’s online submission system.
- All reviewer comments remain anonymous as part of the journal’s double blind policy.
5. Revision and Resubmission Process
- When revisions are required, authors must revise the manuscript according to reviewers’ comments and submit:
- A revised manuscript with highlighted changes (blue or yellow)
- A detailed response to reviewers document addressing each comment and indicating the location of revisions
- Authors have one month to complete the revision.
- Major revisions are returned to the same reviewers for reevaluation, while minor revisions may be assessed solely by the academic editor.
- The improvement process may continue for up to three review rounds until the manuscript receives a final decision of Accepted or Declined.
6. Final Preparation and Publication
- Once accepted, authors must submit the final clean version of the manuscript without tracked changes.
- The final version will undergo copyediting, proofreading, and formatting prior to publication in Jurnal OPSI.
