AI Policy

The Editorial Board of JABis (Jurnal Administrasi Bisnis) recognizes the evolving role of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the academic publishing process. To ensure transparency, ethical standards, and integrity in scholarly communication, the following policy outlines the permitted and prohibited uses of AI tools for authors, reviewers, and editors.

1. For Authors

1.1 Use of Generative AI in Writing

Authors are permitted to use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly) solely to enhance the readability and clarity of their manuscripts. Such use must be conducted under human oversight, and authors remain fully responsible for the content’s accuracy, originality, and integrity. AI-generated output may contain factual errors or biases and should not be relied upon without thorough review.

1.2 Prohibited Uses

  • The following uses of AI tools are strictly prohibited:
  • Generating primary research data, figures, or results.
  • Creating or manipulating content in a deceptive or misleading manner.
  • Rewriting or summarizing previously published work without proper citation.

1.3 Plagiarism and Similarity Threshold

All manuscripts, whether AI-assisted or not, must adhere to a maximum similarity index of 20%. Authors must conduct plagiarism checks prior to submission and comply with the academic integrity standards set by JABis.

1.4 Figures, Images, and Artwork

Authors are not allowed to use generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create or modify scientific images or figures, including altering or fabricating visual data. Acceptable image modifications include basic adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance, as long as they do not alter the meaning of the content.

If AI is used as part of the research methodology (e.g., AI-assisted image analysis), this must be clearly described in the Methods section with details such as the tool name, version, and manufacturer. Authors may be asked to provide original, unmodified files upon request.

  • Use of AI-generated artwork for graphical abstracts is not permitted.
  • Use of AI-generated cover art may be allowed only with editorial approval and full disclosure of rights and attribution.

2. For Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts or peer review reports into any AI tools, including for language assistance, as this may violate confidentiality, data privacy, and intellectual property rights. The peer review process is a human responsibility and requires critical thinking, subject expertise, and ethical judgment that AI cannot provide. Reviewers remain fully accountable for the content and conclusions of their review reports.

3. For Editors

Editors are also prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts, editorial communications, or decision letters into AI tools. Editorial duties require strict confidentiality and compliance with data privacy policies. All communications related to the manuscript, including review coordination and decisions, must be handled directly and confidentially by human editors.

4. Final Notes

JABis promotes transparency, accountability, and trust in scholarly publishing. This policy refers strictly to the writing and publishing process and does not limit the use of AI as part of the research methodology, provided it is properly disclosed and ethically applied. The Editorial Board will continuously review and revise this policy in response to advancements in AI technology and ethical standards in academic publishing.
